Careers
California agriculture directly employs nearly 500,000 people and is indirectly responsible for millions more off-farm jobs. According to the Centers of Excellence, agriculture employs close to 2.5 million individuals within the agriculture value chain. Aside from the nearly 500,000 production and processing/packaging jobs, more than half a million distribution jobs and nearly 1.5 million support jobs exist because of agriculture. These jobs spread throughout the geography of the state, far beyond where you "see" agriculture, and have a total direct impact of $340 billion in California. The average salary of the more than 800 job titles within the agricultural value chain is $50,000.
